Vegetables and Fruit

Good nutrition is fundamental to normal growth and development. According to Canada’s Food Guide, healthy eating helps people:
  • Get enough vitamins, minerals and other nutrients
  • Reduce their risk of chronic disease
  • Achieve overall health and vitality

Vegetables and fruit are an important part of healthy eating. They come in many forms, such as fresh, frozen and canned. Include plenty of vegetables and fruits in your meals and snacks. Try making half of your plate vegetables and fruit. Choose different textures, colours and shapes to fit your taste.

A healthy diet rich in vegetables and fruit may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and some types of cancer.

Did you know that canned and frozen vegetables and fruit have the same nutritional value as fresh vegetables and fruit? We invite you to check our Veggies & Fruit campaign to learn more!
