Healthy Eating for Seniors

Regardless of your age, eating well is an important component of healthy aging. Canada’s Food Guide provides a variety of vitamins and minerals important for overall health and vitality.

Combined with physical activity, good nutrition helps seniors remain independent, maintain their quality of life, and avoid progression of chronic diseases.

Your nutritional needs change as you age, for example, the need for Vitamin D increases as we get older. In addition to following Canada’s Food Guide, everyone over the age of 50 should take a vitamin D supplement of 10ug (400 IU).
