Child Development (Infant)
Your child’s experiences in the early months and years of life affect her health, well-being, and coping skills for the rest of her life. Your caring, nurturing, and safe parenting help ensure your baby’s optimal development. During the toddler years, your child will grow and learn rapidly.
Child development is typically described in five areas:
- physical
- social
- emotional
- cognitive
- language
While there are milestones, development is not a race. Each child grows and develops at his own pace. Learning about child development can guide your parenting. You can support and guide your child’s development through activities in each of these four areas:
- Learning To Think and Play
- Seeing and Using Hands
- Hearing, Speech and Language
- Learning To Move
